Credo
I hope the era of the Prima Donna is over. I do not want to experience directing, conducting or singing divas who can only »fight« for their own sake. The score must be the central element in music theatre, and out of it I develop concepts. I love to work with the conductor (not against him or her). We ask each other questions, and together we explore the depths of the score and how we can and must relate to it as a work of art that still speaks to us in our times.
I believe in music theatre as a relevant and vibrant art form today. If stage and pit are antagonists during the performance, the result is somewhere between museum, circus and Vanity Fair. This is the kiss of death for the theatre. Music theatre is – above all other art forms – a »collaborative effort«, and it is our responsability not to forget the audience but to take them with us and to communicate with them.
Music theatre is a journey through time and space and through ourselves. It can, and it will change us.
Let’s make the journey together!

»Three Times Three Equals Eternity«
My debut as set and costume designer
On very short notice I took over directing and designing the premiere of Karola Obermüler’s and Peter Gilbert’s political opera at Stuttgart’s Academy Schloss Solitude. With Tina Hartmann and Barbara Rucha I had my tried and trusted team with me. The performances presented large sequences from the opera whose complete world premiere is now in process of planning.
